Hi Students!
Center for Higher Consciousness is a rich training and supervisory environment for new clinicians entering the mental health field.
We've been overseeing and training practicum students and interns since 2019, and started employing externs at our Center in 2022, who enrich the team environment with additional clinical experience. Primarily we've worked with students from Adams State University, but are open to other placements from University graduate students pursuing their masters degree in counseling or clinical psychology, as well. Our site draws clinicians interested in integrating spirituality, personal growth, and other methods of healing, into their work. We foster autonomy, creativity, initiative, authenticity, and depth in each of our clinicians, and cultivate an environment filled with intelligent discourse about human nature and healing modalities, as well as ways to further community outreach and impact, which incubates fresh approaches and new ideas. Please see our site requirements below, if you are interested in potentially joining us! |
We now have an opening for spring semester 2024! Inquire at:

Site requirements
Students need to send a resume, cover letter, and complete an interview (preferably in-office) as well as an online survey to be considered for placement.
We require a minimum of 1 year of graduate school in clinical or counseling psychology (3 semesters) before taking on a student for placement.
We take on practicum students only when they can also commit to internship I and II with us.
We take on post-practicum interns for a 9-12 month time commitment, and have variable capacity to take on interns whose site fell through or who need a secondary site to ensure they obtain enough hours to graduate on time. We do require a minimum of 9 months with us in this case.
We require students to maintain continuity of care (their caseload) during academic breaks, but reduce the number of total hours and frequency of sessions during such breaks as much as possible.
We require students to attend a mandatory monthly team meeting.
Once an intern obtains their masters degree, placement immediately converts into a paid externship position, if the position is available and the intern is eligible.
